The Giving Tree of Hummelstown and Hershey celebrates 20 years of supporting local families in crisis or transition.
Thanks to our committed volunteer members and valued relationships, we help an average of 150 families each year in Lower Dauphin and Derry Township school districts.

PROJECTS COMPLETED OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2025 WITH YOUR SUPPORT
Coat drive – October/November​
​
To help support our families in need of winter coats we distributed 97 coats to Lower Dauphin schools: Nye Elementary, East Hanover Elementary, South Hanover Elementary, Price, Middle School, Londonderry Elementary and Conewago Elementary.
Fruit baskets – December

​Fruit baskets were delivered to the Food Banks in Grantville, Hummelstown, and Hershey.
Support to families in need

Financial support for student awards sponsored by Communities That Care to Lower Dauphin Schools
Walmart gift cards to an older adult and two families with high school students
Provided eye exams and glasses at Vision Works for five students
Provided 72 books to the Study Buddy program for the March graduates

2026 COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Dental Health Kits for elementary schools Lower Dauphin School District - February: Dental kits to be delivered to Lower Dauphin elementary schools and Falcon Packs. Kits included a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental booklet, and stickers.
Books for Communities That Care Study Buddy Program – March: Books to be delivered to Lower Dauphin Communities That Care for 4th and 5th grade students participating in their weekly homework program.

Books for Jump Start Kindergarten Readiness Program – June: Books to be delivered to Lower Dauphin schools to support reading skills over the summer.
Hygiene Kits – August: Starting in July, we will accept donations of shampoo, bars of soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, and
toothpaste to fill kits for families in Lower Dauphin schools. These kits help cut costs for parents who are struggling with all the back-to-school demands for their kids.
Female Sanitary Products Collection - August: All the donated sanitary pads and tampons we get are distributed to the school nurses to keep them available when the need arises.
Coat drive – October/November
To help support our families and assist growing children to have a warm winter coat each year. We will be helping alongside several other local nonprofits in our Lower Dauphin community.
