Helping local families in crisis or transition
The Giving Tree of Hummelstown and Hershey celebrates 20 years of supporting local families in crisis or transition.
Thanks to our committed volunteer members and valued relationships, we help an average of 150 families each year in Lower Dauphin and Derry Township school districts.

ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES 2023...
Coat Drive (October-November)
Working with our school counselors and nurses to identify students who need a warm winter coat. We purchase and donate the coats for elementary, middle, and high school students in the
Lower Dauphin School District. Last year we supplied 55 coats. If you would like to help, you
can do so by making a donation on our PayPal link. If you wish to donate coats please email Kim
Balog at kimbalog15@gmail.com She will give you the specifics for size, color and sex of a
child who needs a coat.
Fruit Baskets (December)
This is our final project for 2023. We purchase fresh fruit baskets for families identified by the Hummelstown, Hershey and Grantville Food Pantries. They are delivered around the Christmas
holiday and are well received! Last year we donated 75 in total. You can help by making a
monetary donation to us.
Thanks in advance for all your support!

RECAP OF OUR SUMMER PROJECTS...
Snack bags for Lower Dauphin Falcon Packs
In early June, The Giving Tree assembled healthy option snack bags that were handed out byFalcon Packs volunteers to go along with their last food distribution for the school year. Everylittle bit helps these families struggling with food/hunger needs. 135 kits were dropped off andenjoyed by the recipients.
Hygiene Kits for Lower Dauphin Falcon Packs
After Labor Day 145 hygiene kits were dropped off at the high school for Falcon Pack families. We distributed some of the packs to school nurses and guidance counselors to keep on hand during the school year also. For the past several years, Giving Tree has assembled these kits with shampoo, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and a washcloth. This is a big help for families on a tight budget.
Female sanitary products
This new project was created this summer to support our school nurses who struggle with this need. School budgets do not cover all the needs of our students. Over 1,000 items were collected
and delivered to the middle school and high school nurses for this school year to have available when it is needed!
Thank you to our supporters who donated funds to purchase items and to our volunteers who
came to our events to package the above items.
We are always accepting donations through our website or by mailing a check to:
