Helping local families in crisis or transition

The Giving Tree of Hummelstown and Hershey celebrates 15 years of supporting local families in crisis or transition.

Thanks to our committed volunteer members and valued relationships, we help an average of 150 families each year in Lower Dauphin and Derry Township school districts.

Roll Up Your Sleeves 2023...

Books for STUDY BUDDIES Homework Program participants – February

We will provide books to all elementary schools in Lower Dauphin who participate in this reading program.

Dental Hygiene Kits – February

Kits will be delivered to Falcon Pack recipients and extra kits to Lower Dauphin Elementary School nurses. February is National Dental Month. Dental hygiene education is important, we strive to help our students.

Snack Bags – May-June

Healthy snack items will be distributed to Falcon Packs recipients. Our efforts help to combat hunger when the students are home for the summer without the benefit of the free/discounted lunch program.

Books for Jump Start Kindergarten Readiness Program – June

Books to be delivered to Lower Dauphin schools to support reading skills over the summer.

Hygiene Kits – August

These items will be for Falcon Pack recipients. Our support reduces the cost of basic hygiene items for needy families. These items are not covered under food stamps. Our bags include shampoo, soap, deodorant, and toothpaste. Extra kits will be delivered to nurses in all Lower Dauphin schools.

Coat drive – October – November

Children's coats will be distributed again this winter to Lower Dauphin schools to assist families in need. Winter 2022 we donated 55 coats to students.
